DDE not working

Hello,

I have been using FXCM's dde feed for many months but it stopped working two days ago. WHen I type in the password, I get a message "server does not recognize the user or a network problem has occured. Please try again"

In the past few months, you would occasionally get such a message which would then be corrected a couple of hours later. Not this time. It has been 2+ days.

Any ideas???

Strangely enough, the dde problem has coincided with the retrieval of charts from Stratagem.

Everything works out but no chart appears, even after choosing the pair of currencies from the drop down box. Clearing the Java cache also did not help.

We have also been using the DDE Server for over 2 years and for the last 2 days it has not been working. We are getting the same error.

Have you heard anything back from FXCM regarding this issue?:confused:

I am still a little confused about this, FXCM.

The ordertogo application was discussed in 2006. The Dde downloader stopped working a few days ago.

Does that mean the Dde is done for good? Is there a new password I should know about? Is there any way to keep on using the old method? It was very convenient

FXCM is constantly implementing and developing the Order2Go in order to improve system stability and performance. The new DDE feed, http://www.fxprogrammers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13 , is more stable and uses the feed from your demo or real account. The old DDE application will not work going forward and you should switch over to the new version. Let us know if you have any questions.

what is the new username, password, etc, that I need to plug in the new Dde? The old information does not work

You would use the login information from any live or demo FXCM account.
If you do not have either, you can register for a demo account at:
http://www.fxcm.com/open-free-100k.jsp

Please note that if you plan to use your live account information, please check with admin@fxcm.com that your account be set to "Multiple Session Access" so that the Order2Go DDE doesn't log you out of your Trading Station.
If you are using a demo, you do not need to worry about this, as all demos are set to Multiple Session Access by default.

The earlier version of the dde did not need a user name, password from the demo account. It was self sufficient. So, what I am saying is that we need to get a new demo account every month to make the Dde work, correct?

Is there anybody out there that has downloaded the dde feed and it works well? I could really use some help here. The instructions are not as clear as one would hope

If you are using a demo, then yes, you would need to obtain a new one when the old one expires. You could also use a live account which would not expire (remember to have admin@fxcm.com set it to Multiple Session).

What part of the instructions regarding the Order2Go DDE is unclear?

Hello,

I could use some help setting up the order2go dde platform.

I did the following steps:

1. Signed up for a demo account and got the user name and password.
2. installed the order2go runtime on my C drive
3. Installed the Order2GoDDE_Application.zip on my C drive, then unzipped
it and got the folder Order2GoDDE_Application folder. In the folder, I saw
a calculator with "FXCM" on it and a Order2Go spreadsheet.
4. I double clicked on the calculator and got the message "activex
component can create object". When I clicked on "ok" it gave me a new
window with a field for username and password. When I typed in the
username and password from the Demo account, I got a message "object
required"

What am I doing wrong?
